assault with dangerous or deadly weapon

An unlawful attempt or offer to do bodily harm without justification or excuse by use of any instrument calculated to do harm or cause death. An aggravated form of assault as distinguished from a simple assault; e.g. pointing loaded gun at one is an assault with dangerous weapon. State v. Gregory, 108 Ariz. 445, 501 P.2d 387, 390
